Our Story

Cafe Sisily was opened in March 2020 by Paolo and Giuliana, an Italian couple who saw the opportunity to bring a taste of Italy to the Sunshine Coast. Tucked away down the southern end of the Sunshine Coast in Golden Beach, Cafe Sisily dishes up authentic Italian sweets on the daily including some of the best cannoli on the Sunshine Coast.

When Paolo was made redundant from his pastry chef position in Brisbane, Giuliana was on maternity leave with their second daughter and given her father owns the building, when the space became free, they decided to jump into the opportunity of a lifetime. In just a few short weeks they opened up as a hole in the wall coffee, patisserie and cannoli joint. Then coronavirus hit.

But that didn’t stop the customers lining up every morning from 4:30am trying to get their hands on a cannoli. Since then, they have been going from strength to strength amidst the pandemic. And to this day today they cannot believe how incredibly successful they have been and they cannot wait to grow the business into their dream!

Café Sisily has been the best thing to happen to us. Welcoming our customers through our doors each and every single day is the icing on the cake. We have been absolutely overwhelmed with the support we have received from the very beginning. We have come so far in the short time that we have been established and we are so excited for the next phase of our business. Watch this space as big things are planned. Tanto Amore xo

Meet Paolo

Born and raised in Gela, Caltanisetta, Sicily, Paolo moved to Australia in 2005 at the age of 12. He began work at his uncle’s Pasticceria/bakery and instantly fell in love. So in love in fact that he finished school at 15 and completed a pastry apprenticeship. After this he worked in the family business and also worked for well renowned Jocelyn’s Provisions before opening Cafe Sisily in March 2020.
